12th Gen Intel Core i7 Performance

The 12th Gen Intel Core i7 platform delivers strong performance for Microsoft Office, programming, large spreadsheets, business applications, browser multitasking and video conferencing. Both U-series and higher-performance P-series Core i7 configurations were available.

This gives the EliteBook 840 G9 a strong balance of processing power, efficiency and portability for professional workloads.

16GB DDR5 RAM

The 16GB DDR5-4800 RAM provides responsive multitasking and faster memory bandwidth than older DDR4 systems. HP equips the laptop with two SO-DIMM slots and supports up to 64GB DDR5 memory.

The upgradeable memory design is useful for professionals who may require more RAM for heavier applications later.

256GB NVMe SSD

The 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD provides quick Windows startup, fast application loading and responsive file access. HP officially offered both standard NVMe and PCIe Gen4 x4 256GB SSD configurations.

For refurbished units, verify the installed SSD before specifically advertising it as Gen4.

14-inch WUXGA Display

The 14-inch WUXGA 1920 × 1200 display uses a productivity-friendly 16:10 aspect ratio, giving users more vertical workspace than traditional 1920 × 1080 Full HD screens.

HP offered multiple panels, including 250-nit, 400-nit 100% sRGB, touch and HP Sure View privacy options, so brightness and touch capability should be confirmed on the individual laptop.

Intel Iris Xe Graphics

Intel Iris Xe Graphics provide efficient integrated performance for Full HD and 4K video playback, presentations, multiple displays and light creative workloads.

The integrated GPU maintains good everyday visual performance without adding the weight and battery demand of dedicated graphics.

Battery Performance

The EliteBook 840 G9 supports 38Wh and 51Wh HP Long Life polymer batteries. HP rates certain 51Wh configurations for up to approximately 14 hours under its controlled testing conditions.

Real-world battery life depends on processor type, display brightness, battery health, wireless usage and workload.

Thunderbolt 4 and Ports

Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.0 and a combined headphone/microphone jack. Thunderbolt 4 supports up to 40Gbps signaling, USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4.

This port selection makes the laptop practical for docking stations, external displays, storage devices and modern business accessories.

Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth

The Intel AX211 Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless solution provides fast networking and reliable connections with compatible headsets, mice and other peripherals.

Selected configurations were also available with optional LTE or 5G mobile broadband for professionals who need connectivity away from Wi-Fi.

Audio and Camera

Bang & Olufsen audio, dual stereo speakers and dual-array microphones provide clear sound for meetings and multimedia. HP offered 5MP and 5MP IR cameras with HP Auto Frame depending on configuration.

These features make the EliteBook 840 G9 particularly suitable for hybrid work and frequent video conferencing.

Starting at approximately 1.36kg, the HP EliteBook 840 G9 combines a spacious 14-inch display with excellent portability. Its compact dimensions make it convenient for office use, commuting and business travel.
