8th Gen Intel Core i7 Performance

The Intel Core i7-8650U is a quad-core, eight-thread business processor designed for responsive everyday performance. It handles Microsoft Office, browser multitasking, accounting applications, video meetings and professional productivity efficiently.

Its low-power U-series architecture also helps balance processing performance with battery efficiency in this portable 2-in-1 design.

16GB LPDDR3 RAM

The 16GB LPDDR3-2133 RAM provides enough memory for demanding multitasking, multiple browser tabs and business applications. Because the memory is soldered onboard, it cannot be upgraded later.

For this reason, the 16GB configuration is especially desirable compared with lower-memory versions of the Latitude 5290 2-in-1.

256GB SSD

The 256GB SSD delivers fast Windows startup, quick application loading and responsive file access. Dell offered both SATA and PCIe/NVMe storage options within the Latitude 5290 2-in-1 platform.

For a refurbished unit, check the installed SSD before advertising the storage specifically as NVMe.

12.3-inch Touch Display

The 12.3-inch WVA touchscreen features a sharp 1920 × 1280 resolution and productivity-friendly 3:2 aspect ratio. Its 340-nit brightness and wide viewing angles provide a clear workspace for documents, browsing and presentations.

Corning Gorilla Glass 4, anti-reflective treatment and an anti-smudge coating improve durability and usability in tablet mode.

Intel UHD Graphics 620

Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday multimedia, Full HD video, presentations and external displays efficiently. It is designed for productivity rather than demanding gaming or professional 3D rendering.

Integrated graphics also contribute to lower power consumption and the lightweight 2-in-1 form factor.

Detachable 2-in-1 Design

The Latitude 5290 uses a detachable design with an integrated kickstand, allowing it to operate as either a Windows tablet or compact laptop with the Dell Travel Keyboard attached.

This flexibility is useful for meetings, presentations, note-taking, travel and everyday business work.

Battery

Dell offered 31.5Wh and 42Wh polymer battery configurations, including ExpressCharge and Long Life Cycle options. Actual runtime depends on battery capacity, battery condition, display brightness and workload.

For refurbished stock, battery health should be checked separately rather than advertising a fixed number of usage hours.

Ports and Connectivity

The Latitude 5290 2-in-1 provides two USB-C ports with DisplayPort support, one USB-A PowerShare port, microSD and a universal audio jack. Thunderbolt 3 support was optional rather than standard on every configuration.

Optional mobile broadband also allowed selected configurations to use 4G LTE connectivity while away from Wi-Fi.

Cameras and Video Meetings

The system includes a 5MP front-facing camera and 8MP autofocus rear camera, making it useful for video meetings, document capture and mobile work. An optional IR camera supports Windows Hello facial authentication.

This camera setup is more versatile than the single webcam found on many conventional business laptops.

Portability and Weight

The tablet itself starts at approximately 857g, while the system with the detachable Travel Keyboard weighs around 1.20kg. This lightweight construction makes the Latitude 5290 2-in-1 easy to carry between meetings, classes and work locations.

Its compact footprint is particularly useful for professionals who prioritize mobility without switching to a mobile operating system.
